Dear Lady Members,                                                                                                               30th August 2016

I do hope that you have enjoyed the summer months and had plenty of opportunity to play lots of golf, either here or abroad.  There has been lots going on at every level of the game.

The Ricoh Women’s British Open at Woburn at the end of July was the first time that a golf Major has been held in the county and what a feast of terrific golf was played by the world’s best golfers. And then we had the fantastic Olympics to enjoy, the golf contributing to the overall huge success of Team GB

The final preparations are being made for the County Finals Week, which will be at Waterlooville Golf Club in Hampshire from 12th to 16th September. If anyone would like to make the trip down for the day we would be delighted to see you. The full schedule can be found in the “County Finals Week” section of the website.

The competitions at club level are coming towards the end.  Most of the League matches have been completed and the summer knockout competitions are at the semi-final stage. Next week we have the Bucks Shield Finals’ Day – best of luck to the four semi-finalists, Beaconsfield, Buckingham, Burnham Beeches and Stoke Park.

The Juniors have had a busy time during this holiday period. Congratulations to Thalia Kirby who retained the Junior Championship title when it was played at The Buckinghamshire earlier this month. The Junior Scratch Team are playing in the Midlands South Team Finals this coming weekend – best of luck to the six players.

The Seniors have only a couple of matches left to play. They look forward to their annual Autumn Meeting at Oakland Park in September.  The full results of all the competitions can be found in the relevant sections of the website.

The Entry Forms for the Winter Foursomes, the Winter League and the Interclub Foursomes are available as usual on the website. It will soon be possible to enter and pay on-line for competitions through “webcollect” via our own website.  The closing date for the three competitions is 17th September – anyone wishing to enter now can do so in the traditional way, but if you are prepared to wait until nearer the closing date, then keep an eye on the “Latest News” section of the website which will announce when the new on-line system has gone live.

With best wishes to you all,

Phillipa Cook
(County Captain)
