Dear Ladies,

After a successful National Finals week in the most atrocious weather imaginable, I can hardly believe the current balmy weather……… who would believe October could be so glorious?

Congratulations to everyone who played at Royal North Devon GC and thanks to the support staff and parents who made the long journey down too. Thank you also to all the clubs and individuals who kindly sent “good luck” cards and messages to us - it boosted our spirits during a truly gruelling tournament. Despite the extremely challenging wind and rain, I’m proud to say we had our best finish since the inception of the tournament in 1953.

Congratulations also to our 2nd Team and Junior Scratch & Handicap Teams as they both reached their respective Midland South Finals again. Another fantastic year for BCLGA!

For me the end is now in sight…….. I shall hand over my County Captain’s brooch at the end of the month and can look back on 2 incredibly rewarding years - it’s definitely been a mixture of hard graft, diplomacy, fun & friendship, but primarily it’s been a great honour to serve as your County Captain.

Knowing that I leave you in the capable hands of Gail Sharp (together with the willing volunteers who serve on the Exec & Junior Committees), I’m confident that they’ll steer you wisely through the next couple of years.

It’s been an honour to serve as your BCLGA Captain and I look forward to witnessing the continued success of the Association.……. from the sidelines.

Best regards,

Sue Ashworth
(County Captain)
