Competitions

Please note all detailed information about a competition, including entry forms etc, can now be found on a page dedicated to that competition. There will be a link to the page in the tables below or you can 'find' the relevant page via the Search facility.

The Competitions organised by the BCLGA can be categorised as follows: 

County Championships
The main County Championships comprise a 36 hole stroke play qualifying event, held on one day, with the top 16 players entered into a match play knockout format played over two days to determine the overall County Champion.

The Intermediate Championship is held over the same 36 hole event: eligible age-group players can play in both events simultaneously.
 
The County Seniors and the County Juniors Championships each comprise an 18 hole stroke play event played on a separate day to the main County Championships.

One Day Meetings
Events that take place on a specific date; any female amateur golfer belonging to a Bucks club or holding individual membership of the County can enter these competitions, subject to any specific rules for each competition. 

Competitions for Clubs
Events where entries are organised through the Bucks clubs: some being organised on a League basis, some on a knockout basis with a County organised final, some are on a one day meeting basis, some based on performance during the season.

Knock-out competitions for Individuals or Pairs
Knockout events that run over a number of months;  any female amateur golfer belonging to a Bucks club or holding individual membership of the County can enter these competitions, subject to any specific rules for each competition.

Bucks Golf Clubs Open competitions
One day events throughout the county with competition formats decided by the organising clubs.  Please see here for further information.

England Golf competitions
Competitions run by England Golf that may be of interest to Bucks Ladies and Junior Girls.  Please see here for further information.


There are some Local Rules and Terms that will apply to all the BCLGA competitions and these can be found below.

County Championships

Seniors County Championship

21st July 2022
For players aged 50 and over. 18 hole strokeplay championship.
Venue: Harleyford

Intermediate County Championship

3rd May 2022
For players aged between 18 & 25 on 1 January, a 36 hole stroke play championship to be held in parallel with the County Championships qualifier event

Junior County Championships

5th August 2021
For girls aged under 18 on 1st January; 18 hole stroke play for players with handicap index 18.4 and under and  18 hole stableford for players with handicap index 18.5 and over.

One Day Meetings

Events that take place on a specific date; any female amateur golfer belonging to a Bucks club or holding individual membership of the County can enter these competitions, subject to any specific rules for each competition, for example age restrictions.

Team events may be made up of players from more than one club.


Seniors/Vets Spring
Meeting

Tuesday 26th April 2022
3 Ball Team Alliance for Seniors (50 to 64) and/or Vets (65+). Mixed age teams are
permissible but play in Seniors competition. Prizes for best Seniors and Vets teams. All handicaps welcome

Interclub Foursomes

Thursday 14th October
A one day event normally held in the Autumn with entry limited to two pairs per club - Closing date 20th September
Venue: Lambourne




Cygnet Trophy

anytime during summer
A qualifying stableford competition held at each club, with their best results being submitted to the County; a trophy is awarded at the AGM for the best result. This is a fund-raiser for County junior golf - Closing date 5th October


County Eclectic Cup

April to Sept
A summer eclectic competition run at each club with the best results being submitted to the County; a trophy is awarded at the AGM for the best result. This is a fund-raiser for the Captain's Charites - Closing date 1st October

Coronation Medals

2021 best scores
BCLGA awards a silver medal for the best aggregate of 4 scratch scores and a bronze medal for the best aggregate of 4 net scores achieved within the County in the previous season. One entry accepted per club - Closing date 30th April

April to October
The premier club team matchplay knockout competition run throughout the summer culminating in a Final at a prearranged venue - Closing date 31st January

A matchplay knockout singles competition open to the individual scratch champions from each club culminating in a Final at a nominated venue - Closing date 28th February


Summer Silver League

April - Sept
A league matchplay competition, organised in divisions, for club teams of 3 players with a handicap index of 18.4 or below run throughout the summer - Closing date 12th March

Summer Bronze League

April - Sept
A league matchplay competition, organised in divisions, for club teams of 3 players with a handicap index of 18.5 and above run throughout the summer - Closing date 12th March
Winter League


Oct to April
A league matchplay competition, organised in divisions for club teams of 6 players, 3 pairs, run throughout the winter - Closing date 31st August

MS Seniors Championship 2022

We are proud to host the Midlands South Seniors Championship 2022 at Burnham Beeches Golf Club. Entries are open for all Seniors aged 50+ and with a HI of 19.5 or below.
