A Happy New Year to you all and I hope you enjoy the coming golfing season. The winter has been particularly wet so far, leaving our courses playing longer than usual. Roll on the Spring!

There have been a lot of preparations for the new season going on from a County perspective and I thought I would just remind you of some of them.

Information Leaflet:
Our handy A4 trifold leaflet is now being sent out to delegates and will be put on the website shortly. It has information about all our competitions, matches and junior activities and our contact details. Useful and easy to print off and have in your handbag!

Summer Knockout competitions:
Entries are open for the four summer knockout competitions - The Challenge Cup (singles) for players with handicaps 20.4 and below, the Rose Bowl (singles) for players with handicaps 20.5 and above, the Summer Greensomes (any combination of handicaps with an individual maximum of 36.4) and of course the Champion of Champions knockout. The closing date for all of these is the 28th February: rules and entry forms on the website.

County Lunch:
The poster with menu and application form is now on the website. The date is Wednesday 4th March and I look forward to welcoming some of you back to Gerrards Cross for this annual fundraising lunch. Good food, good company and a great raffle table. Plus the opportunity to bid for some fantastic four ball vouchers and try a course you have never visited before in Buckinghamshire.
Your clubs are being very generous in yet again supporting our fundraising efforts and I hope you will be tempted to bid for at least one of the many four ball vouchers that will be on offer. I will put the list of available four balls available on the website next week and will add to it as they come in - so if you cannot come to the lunch you can put in a bid to our Treasurer separately. Closing date for lunch applications is 27th February. Closing date for advance bids for four ball vouchers will be Monday 2nd March.

Level One Rules School:
We are working with Bucks, Berks and Oxon (men) and the other two ladies' associations (Berks and Oxon) to run a Level One rules school on **Saturday 7th March **at The Oxfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity to have an in-depth session on the Rules of Golf, followed by the chance to take the exam to be a Level One referee. Our thanks go to Sue McKeon, one of our most senior referees, for getting this collaboration off the ground. If you are interested, there are still places left but the course is filling up, so act soon. You can apply online via the BB&O website (www.bbogolf.com)

Seniors Spring Meeting:
The date for this is Tuesday 28th April and the venue is Buckingham. All details are on the website and the closing date is 27th March. This is the new format of a Seniors team competition (where at least one member of the team is aged between 50 and 64) and a Vets team competition (where all three members of the team must be 65+).

Looking ahead, we have a NEW 18 hole Par 3 competition for adult lady golfers on Saturday 27th June at Wycombe Heights. Details are not yet on the website - but keep the date free in your diary as this promises to be a great fun competition - it will be a shotgun start at 10am, with refreshments before and after and prizes. Our summer meeting will be at my home club of Gerrards Cross on Friday 17th July - details will be posted on the website in February.
