Congratulations to our new County Champion for 2019 - Alice Kozlowski of Ellesborough Golf Club.

Following her success in winning the scratch 36 hole stokeplay qualifier event on Sunday May 12th and the Intermediate Trophy, Alice played four sparkling rounds of golf on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May to come through as the overall County Champion. On the way she beat Pamela King, Grace Rigby-Walden, Denise Goodacre and Amelia Curtis.
Despite being down in at least two of these matches, Alice's positive thinking and steady golf held her in good stead and she came through victorious.

The weather on Saturday was good for most of the day with just a few holes of rain to contend with. The 16 players that got through to the match play are listed lower down this report. At the end of the Saturday morning match play the 8 remaining players were:

Alice Kozlowski v Grace Rigby-Walden
Ella Butteriss v Denise Goodacre
Daisy Kennedy v Lily Robinson
Amelia Curtis v Rosie Bee Kim
Some tight matches with 3 of them ending on the 16th or 17th greens.

Sunday morning saw cloudy conditions but dry.
The two matches left were :
Alice Kozlowski v Denise Goodacre
Amelia Curtis v Lily Robinson

Denise lost some of the excellent form she had shown earlier in the matchplay to lose to Alice. The semi-final match between Amelia and Lily was very very close - par golf being played by both of them right round the course, each making only one mistake during the first 17 holes. They were all square on the 18th and Amelia took the victory by scoring the first birdie of the round.

This left the final to be played on Sunday afternoon between Alice and Amelia. Amelia took an early one hole lead, which became 2 up after the 9th when Alice's game temporarily deserted her. However a birdie at the 10th started the come back and Amelia wavered a little. The match ended on the 16th green with a 4 & 2 victory to Alice.

The 36 holes qualifying stroke play competition for the County championship match play draw and the 18 hole stroke play competition for the Seniors Championship were held on Sunday 12th May. The weather was excellent and the course at Burnham Beeches was fantastic, with true fast greens and wonderful fairways. Holding the competition at the weekend increased our numbers from 30 to 37, although there were two last-minute withdrawals through injury.

The competition was refereed by Sue Mckeon and supported by the Burnham Beeches Ladies' Captain, Carol Woodland) and Vice-Captain (Chris Suttey), both of whom acted as caddies. The caterers put on a lovely supper and our thanks go particularly to Sally Harborne, our President, who arranged all the details for the competition, coping admirably with changes to the starting line up and the club v1 software.

The results were:
