New Year and New Year resolutions

Diary Event

Firstly can I wish you all a slightly belated Happy New Year and I hope you all have some good golfing results this coming year. The weather during the winter has been surprisingly mild and it was a bit of a shock to the system to have to deal with snow earlier this week. Hopefully all courses are reopening this weekend.

The 2019 entry forms and competition rules for the Bucks Shield, the summer knockouts and the Seniors Spring meeting have all been added to the website. So I hope your New Year's resolutions will have included playing in some of our competitions this year. They are organised for you - please use them.

Also now on the website are the details of the 2019 County Lunch which is to be held on Wednesday 27th March at my home club, Gerrards Cross. I have chosen what I hope you will find is a lovely menu; the guest speaker will be Rob Levine, the General Manager from one of my charities Workaid and we have held the ticket price to the same level as last year. So please come along with a bunch of friends; early birds have the option of morning golf.

Congratulations are due for three different achievements in January......firstly Olivia Lee should be congratulated for becoming the first female Junior Captain at Gerrards Cross, with a magnificent drive-in of 217 yards; secondly I am pleased to tell you that Jess Pilgrim, a junior at Stoke Park Golf Club, has been selected as one of four finalists in the Young Ambassador of the Year category for the England Golf National awards - we wish her well at the presentation dinner at the Royal Lancaster Hotel on 21st March; and finally congratulations to the Harleyford green-keeping team who recently won the BIGGA Championship Greenkeeping Performance of the Year award, against fierce competition.

My final request for you in this opening News update of 2019 is to make one additional resolution - if you haven't already done so, please opt-in for our Newsletter service and resolve to get at least three other members of your ladies section to do so as well.

Happy golfing
